Since World War I, a Blue Star Banner displayed in the front
window of a home told others that a family member was serving in the
armed forces.
Once again, American men and women are being called to war. They
are our nation's newest veterans, fighting to wipe out the seeds of
terrorism. Each of them leaves a family behind. Every neighborhood
has someone serving.
As we steel ourselves for a long and difficult war, the sight of
Blue Star Banners in homes will remind us of the personal sacrifices
being made to preserve our way of life.
